Bumping into an (old) friend can switch up your whole planning. Not in a bad way, more like a pleasant surprise. This is exactly what happened to me and Jerrau when we were just wandering around Amsterdam after being disappointed by the service of his bank. Received a text on my phone from Jerrau earlier that day, asking me to join him for a quick shopping spree in Amsterdam. I didn't have anything else to do so I packed my stuff and encountered the cold weather. At the time we arrived in Amsterdam Jerrau already decided what he wanted to buy and where. First stop was as H&M, looking for a certain type of jacket. The jacket looked fine but we both knew that there were gonna be so many other stores that might be selling a model very similar to the one we picked at H&M. River Island indeed had the type of jacket we were looking for. Nice fit, a deep blue color, solid. No doubt, this was gonna be the jacket Jerrau would take home, but.. that's were everything went wrong. His bank account wouldn't work because of a service failure. This problem ruined the whole day, or at least a part of it. We didn't know how long this problem was gonna take, so we just headed to the first ING office that we could find and told them whats wrong. unfortunately the people couldn't help us.
Walking around the city without any money on us wasn't an optinon. So I opened up the NS app and planned the trip home before we arrived at the station. I took my eyes of the screen and all of a sudden we bumped into Desmond, a friend of mine. He was about to hang with a girl named Brooklyn and asked us if we wanted to join him. Desmond is a funny dude and we could use a laugh after such a disappointing day so we didn't hesitate and turn around to head into the city again. Suddenly Jerrau his bank service failure disappeared, meaning that he could go and buy the jacket at River Island. That was the first pleasant surprise, the second one was a light show with inflated creatures floating around the Dam. Now I'm not easily impressed, but this show was amazing. Alternative music started pumping trought speakers and Giant inflated creatures just floated above the heads of the crowd in a matter of seconds. I would describe them as weirdly painted gigantic balloons.
